...and there is usually one main culprit when you don't hit approach shots solid and that is your angle of attack. In the short video below I explain what angle of attack means and how to fix your angle of attack so you can start hitting your irons more solid and start attacking pins. To give you a brief overview, basically angle of attack is the angle of which your club is coming into the ball in a vertical manner. Simply, are you hitting down on the ball, hitting it at the bottom of your arc or hitting up on the ball.
All great ball strikers have a downward, or descending angle of attack. It's the only way to ensure solid contact every time.
If you are someone that tends to hit their irons fat or thin a lot, I can almost guarantee that your angle of attack is is not down enough, or maybe even hitting up on the ball at impact. That makes it impossible to consistently make solid contact and compress the ball. And when we don't make consistent, solid contact, hitting greens becomes impossible.
In this video, I show you one of my favorite drills for making solid contact consistently and making sure your angle of attack is descending when it comes to hitting irons.
